Loft style and the beauty of luxe materials transform this gut renovation into an entertainer’s dream. Smart, flexible use of space enables this home to live larger than its footprint. Located on Boston’s “Gold Coast”, the once-dark apartment now glows with warm silky texture, reflective sheen and bespoke features. Walls are cocooned in woven metallic paper. Silk draperies dress the tall windows/balcony doors.
Custom paneling and blue-veined marble clad the former brick fireplace.
Furnishings are modern and sculptural. The restored curved sectional with cantilevered seats has been upholstered in platinum velvet. Joining the conversation are an Eames lounge in palest leather, a Milo Baughman chrome swivel chair and a Noguchi cocktail table. Black and white photography add graphic punch to the soft tones of the envelope. The sculpture on pedestal, entitled “Crowd”, is by Weidman. New sliding doors delineate the main entertainment area while sharing light from adjoining windows.
A new wet bar with antique mirror backsplash reflects abstract art. Its brass mesh doors seamlessly retract to reveal an espresso bar. Glass orbs suspend over the sculptural walnut dining table and leather chairs.
Onyx slabs line the new open kitchen, garnished with a brass range hood and floating shelves.
The media room invites serious lounging with rich eggplant walls. A pair of custom mossy velvet chaises double as twin beds for guests. The fluted wood armoire adds copious storage.
In the guest bath, metallic textured wall slabs add a subtle backdrop to the frameless glass shower and metal-wrapped vanity.
