About The Project
An unexpected palette transforms a dark space dominated by heavy millwork into a light-filled library overlooking the garden. Warm pinks, orange and camel balance handsome woodwork. Given the home’s arts and crafts roots, the ceiling pattern is a fresh, scaled up homage to William Morris’ signature Acanthus leaf motif. Mid-century pieces mix in to enliven this happy backdrop for a young family.
A deep custom window seat designed for serious lounging was built to match original paneling. The ordinary tile fireplace surround was replaced with Danby marble from Vermont. Tre Pilastri, a painting by Lisa Tharp, hangs above the mantle.
