This 1899 brownstone renovation restored the classical integrity that had been stripped away, while reorganizing and reshaping spaces for the comforts of modern life. The visual language of French Modernism and Art Deco resolved stylistic differences between a modernist husband and a wife drawn to the atmosphere of European boutique hotels. Polished walnut, parchment, silks, and lacquered finishes create a sophisticated backdrop to the curated furnishings and art collection that spans Chagall to Serra.
